Dog Grooming - The Importance of Regular Dog Grooming

How important are grooming and hygiene for my dog's health?

Regular grooming can help reduce or eliminate the risk of skin infections, ear infections, fleas, ticks, and hair matting. Regular grooming can also help detect these things early before they become extensive and expensive.

Do all dogs require grooming?

Yes. Even the short-coated dogs that don't need a haircut need grooming. They can still get a bath, a de-shed, and we clean their ears, anal glands, and around their toenails.

What can an owner do at home to help their dog's grooming experience?

At home, owners can start brushing, holding their legs up, playing with their feet, holding their chin hair, making them stand and be still...all in preparation for their grooming session.

How soon should I start to groom my dog?

You should start grooming your dog at 16 weeks or when your veterinarian has let you know that the puppy vaccination series is finished.

How often should my dog be groomed?

Dog grooming should at least be done once a month.

What dog grooming services does The Wizard of Paws provide?

We offer a spa package, and this includes the haircut, the bath, a forced blow, which is a big high powered blower that drys really fast, or it de-sheds your dog. We also do the ear pluck and the ear clean as well as dremeling the nails, which is actually rounding the nails instead of just clipping them. They'll also get a blueberry facial and a seasonal picture.

If you still have other questions and you'd like to reach out to us, you can call us directly at (706) 278-1113, you can email us, or you can reach out on Facebook. But please do reach out, and we'll get back to you as fast as we can.
